  • How should I maintain my roof tile?

A yearly visual inspection of a concrete roof can help protect against accumulation of leaf debris in the valleys, or moss growth that could create a damming effect with rain. Moss and algae do not harm concrete tiles, but periodic cleaning with a power washer by a professional can remove them. Please see our Maintenance Guide. for more information.

  • Can I walk on my tile roof?

The less traffic on any roof system, the better. We highly recommend that only trained professionals walk on tile roofs. It is extremely dangerous to walk on these roofs. Also, you can damage the tiles as well as the water shedding membranes under the tiles.

  • I found a tile I really like but it is made by someone else.  Any suggestions?

Our Sales Representatives will be happy to help you find the best matches in our Standard Offerings or assist you in creating the tile through our Custom or Boutique collections.

  • I really like the look of concrete roof tiles, but I`m afraid my current roof will not hold its weight.  Are there any solutions?

Yes. It is required that an engineer thoroughly inspects your home and assesses your situation. Most commercial and residential structures require little or no additional bracing. Adding any additional support to the structure is typically a relatively small portion of the total project.

  • How many batches of oxide do I need?

One batch of oxide will be adequate for approximately 25’ of hip and ridge.

  • How do I repair a roof that has Entegra tile installed on it?

The proper way of repairing a roof is to use tile that is made on the same moulds as the tile you are replacing. Shapes of tiles may look the same, but tiles made on different moulds are different in shape. Mixing tiles that are made on different moulds will cause the tiles to break and fail.

The shape of Entegra Estate and Skandia tile produced from our Pompano and Indiantown facilities is slightly different than tile produced at our Okeechobee facility. When tile from Pompano or Indiantown is laid with tile from Okeechobee, the difference in shape causes the tiles to contact each other in a way that keeps them from laying correctly. This will cause the tiles to break and fail.

Therefore, tile produced form Okeechobee should NOT be used to repair a roof that has tile produced from Pompano or Indiantown. Likewise, tile produced by anyone other than Entegra should not be used to repair an Entegra roof.

To find out where your tile was produced, see “How do I know where my Entegra tile was manufactured?” below.

From 2004 to 2007, hurricanes and new construction demand caused a shortage of roof tile in Florida. Entegra could not produce enough tile to meet the demand, and many who wanted tile were unable to get it.

Some installers have tried to use tile manufactured by other companies to repair roofs that have Entegra tile on them. Sometimes they try to install an extruded tile produced by another tile manufacturer. This does not work because the shapes are different. Other times they try to install a counterfeit tile made by creating a mould of the tile they are trying to counterfeit and pouring a wet mixture of cement and sand into this mould. This does not work either because of shape, compaction, no product approvals and no testing of the product.

Repairs made with tile produced by someone other than Entegra are improper and will cause your roof many problems. Please give us a call if someone is telling you they can properly repair an Entegra roof with tile produced by anyone else. You need to understand why this is not true.
